Repeat Examination – Nov 2025: Guidelines & Registration
- Those who have received a “Fail” grade, are advised to sit all papers which you have obtained grades less than “C”.
- If you sat for the exam and your number is not listed, you need to sit for all the papers.
- All repeat students (Those who have sat for the exam before) must pay a repeat examination fee of Rs. 3200.00 to the Collection Account No: 028100151586123 of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka at any branch of the People’s Bank or online only. Do not use CDM.
- If you have not sat for any of the previous exams, you can also sit for this exam and you do not need to pay the Rs. 3200 repeat exam fee. In this case your results will be considered as proper.
- Use the following link to register for the exam. Those who have not registered in advance will not be allowed into the exam halls on the day. The deadline for registration is 7th of October, 2025 https://forms.gle/

- If you have repeated the HDSE 113 group project or HDSE 264 Computer project II, you are advised to contact your supervisor immediately.

Higher Diploma in Software Engineering
Wayamba University of Sri Lanka has been offering several diplomas related to computer science and information technology, through the Department of CMIS of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the ICT Centers at both Kuliyapitiya and Makandura premises. These courses provide quality education to learners coming from different educational backgrounds. The attraction from the public to these programmes over the years is evidence of their need for quality education and opportunities to obtain recognized academic qualification from a reputed educational institute. Wayamba University being the highest level educational institute and the only state university in the North Western province is in a strong position to provide such education.
The Department of Computing & Information Systems is in the view that introducing a Higher Diploma in Software Engineering adhering to the latest SLQF standards would open a progressive educational avenue to address such educational needs, while providing an opportunity to advance the academic qualifications already provided by other related diploma programmes of the University. The Department is also in the process of developing an external degree programme progressively, to provide completeness to the external academic qualification path as well as to provide comprehensive graduate level education to the suitable general public at a reasonable cost.
The course ensures that participants will have comprehensive skills in systematic designing and development of software applications. Essential skills and techniques are taught and practiced to perfection in a creative atmosphere with a strong emphasis on Software Engineering concepts.
Prerequisites for Prospective Students
- Achieved the SLQF Level 2 (i.e.: Passed in G.C.E. (Advanced Level) in any Stream in a single attempt) or NVQ Level 4 AND,
- Passed the Diploma level of the same programme (DSE/DSAD) or any similar Diploma programme (equivalent to SLQF Level 3 or NVQ Level 5) acceptable to the Board of Study and the Senate of WUSL for the Higher Diploma level OR,
- Any other qualification not listed above, but may be considered case by case and acceptable to the Board of Study of the HDSE and the Senate of WUSL for both the Diploma and Higher Diploma levels
Note: Prospective students awaiting GCE(A/L) or NVQ Level 4 results may also join the program. Note however that you must complete this requirement in order to complete the HDSE.

Yes, you can apply with pending results. Note that you need to pass DSE (All modules in DSE) in order to obtain HDSE certificate.
Yes, you can apply with pending completion of DSE/DSAD program.
Yes, you can apply with pending results of GCE(A/L) pass. Note that you must have passed GCE(A/L) to obtain the HDSE certificate
Yes, you can apply with pass/pending results of NVQ level 4. In case of pending results, you must have NVQ level 4 to obtain the HDSE certificate.
If both 6-month diploma programs are related to Software Engineering/Computer programming, you may apply for the HDSE. The selection panel will evaluate your qualification and determine if it is acceptable and if you are able to follow the HDSE.
You can request a certification mentioning the credit value from the institute where you followed the program. A 30-credit diploma program is required as an entry qualification to the HDSE program. If your program does not have sufficient credits or sufficient content related to software engineering, you will also be required to follow recommended “bridging courses” from the DSE program. A maximum of 3 bridging courses, amounting to 7 credits will be assigned depending on your individual need. An additional registration and examination fee of Rs. 3200.00 will also be charged.
