ASRITE 2023
Annual Symposium on Research and Industrial Training of Department of Electronics
The Department of Electronics, Faculty of Applied Sciences of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka buzzed with excitement on December 11th and 12th, 2023, as the 10th Annual Symposium on Research and Industrial Training of Electronics (ASRITE) unfolded. This prestigious event, meticulously coordinated by Mr. Chandika Kiriella, served as a vibrant platform for final-year students to showcase their research prowess and ignite the flames of innovation.
Imagine a world powered by intelligent solar energy systems, natural rubber sheets dried by the sun’s gentle touch, and vigilant AI guardians protecting our transformers. These weren’t mere dreams, but tangible realities presented by the brilliant minds who participated in ASRITE.
Mr. U.I.K. Perera’s “Design of an Intelligent IOT Based Changeover for Hybrid Domestic Solar Power System,” supervised by Dr. Ajith Kumarayapa, emerged as the Best Final Year Research Presenter (Special Degree Program). His project envisioned a future where homes seamlessly switch between solar and grid power, optimizing energy consumption and harnessing the sun’s bounty.
Meanwhile, Ms. W.M.S.M. Weerasingha, guided by Snr. Prof. Kumudu Perera, took home the Best Final Year Research Presenter (Joint Major Degree Program) award for her ingenious “Development of a Drying Natural Rubber (Latex) sheets by using a solar panel.” This project not only offered a sustainable and efficient solution for drying latex but also promised to empower local rubber producers.
