Seminar on Improving Research Visibility

The Department of Electronics, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka successfully organized a seminar titled “Improving Research Visibility” on 16th July 2026 at the Faculty Board Room. The session was conducted by Prof. Upaka Rathnayake, Professor at Atlantic Technological University, Ireland, and Lead Author to the UN IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7) on the invitation of Prof. Jeevani Jayasinghe.

The seminar brought together academic staff members, demonstrators, and postgraduate students to explore practical strategies for enhancing the visibility, impact, and global reach of research. Drawing on his extensive international academic and research experience spanning Ireland, Japan, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, and Sri Lanka, Prof. Rathnayake shared valuable insights into increasing research recognition through effective scholarly communication, publication strategies, citation enhancement, researcher profiling, and international collaboration.

Throughout the interactive session, participants gained a deeper understanding of the key factors influencing research visibility and learned practical approaches to maximizing the impact of their research outputs. The discussion also highlighted the importance of maintaining researcher profiles on academic platforms, publishing in reputable journals, fostering international research collaborations, and adopting best practices to improve citation metrics and global research engagement.

Prof. M. M. D. R. Deegahawathura, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, graced the event and expressed sincere appreciation to Prof. Rathnayake for sharing his expertise and acknowledged the participation of the attendees in making the event a success. The program was gracefully compered by Ms. S. Mihihansi.
