The Faculty of Applied Sciences, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, extends its heartfelt appreciation to Prof. L.D.R.D. Perera, who concluded his tenure as Dean of the Faculty after nine years of dedicated service from 2017 to 2026.
During this period, Prof. Perera provided steady leadership and guidance, contributing significantly to the growth and development of the Faculty. His commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, research, and institutional development helped strengthen the Faculty and create new opportunities for students and staff alike.
One of the key priorities during his tenure was the continuous improvement of academic programs. Through curriculum revisions and quality enhancement initiatives, the Faculty ensured that its degree programs remained relevant, responsive to industry needs, and aligned with emerging developments in higher education.
A notable achievement during his leadership was the successful completion of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Program Review in 2023, in which most of the Faculty’s degree programs received an Overall Grade of A. This accomplishment reflects the collective dedication of the Faculty community and its commitment to maintaining high academic standards.
The Faculty also witnessed considerable improvements in infrastructure during this period, providing better facilities for teaching, learning, and research. These developments have strengthened the environment in which students and staff work and learn.
Beyond his role as Dean, Prof. Perera has been a valued colleague, mentor, and source of encouragement to many within the Faculty. His approachable nature, professionalism, and dedication to the University’s progress have earned him the respect and appreciation of staff and students alike.
His contributions also extended beyond the Faculty of Applied Sciences. While serving as Dean, he played an important role in establishing and developing the Faculty of Technology during its formative years, contributing to the University’s broader growth.
As Prof. Perera concludes the important chapter of service as the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, we sincerely thank him for his leadership, commitment, and many contributions over the past nine years.
We wish him continued success, good health, and happiness in all his future endeavors.
