The Faculty of Applied Sciences, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, successfully participated in a Shramadana Campaign held on 31 July 2026 in support of National “Supilipan” Week and the Clean Sri Lanka program.
The university-wide campaign was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Presidential Secretariat and the Vice-Chancellor of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. The initiative aimed to promote environmental responsibility, improve the cleanliness of institutional premises, and eliminate potential dengue mosquito-breeding sites.
The program at the Faculty of Applied Sciences was organized under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. M. M. D. R. Degahawathura. Members of the Faculty, representing the academic, administrative, academic support, non-academic, and cleaning staff, joined the event. The Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of the University also participated in the program alongside members of the Faculty staff, demonstrating the University leadership’s commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health.
Participants gathered at the Faculty Main Lobby at 8.00 a.m. and worked collaboratively to clean the area, in and around the Faculty premises. They attended in suitable attire and brought appropriate cleaning tools and equipment to support the activities. Their collective efforts helped further improve the cleanliness and appearance of the Faculty environment.
The program reflected the Faculty community’s commitment to teamwork, social responsibility, and their concern for public health and environmental sustainability. The active participation and cooperation of the University leadership and Faculty staff contributed significantly to the successful completion of the campaign and reinforced the shared responsibility of maintaining a clean, healthy, and pleasant university environment.
