The Department of Electronics, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, successfully organized an industry engagement session for the students currently undergoing Industrial Training on 31st July 2026 at the Seminar Room of the Department of Electronics.
The session featured a presentation by Prof. Kapila Jayasinghe of L.E. Robotics (Pvt) Ltd., who shared valuable insights into the company’s cutting-edge research and development activities in the areas of Physical Artificial Intelligence (Physical AI), advanced robotic systems, and engineering product development.
During the presentation, Prof. Jayasinghe introduced the students to the latest technological advancements and emerging trends in robotics and intelligent systems, highlighting the growing importance of multidisciplinary engineering in developing next-generation products. He also discussed the research culture at L.E. Robotics and L.E. Designworks, emphasizing opportunities for graduates to engage in research, innovation, and product development. The session provided students with a clear understanding of the skills and competencies expected by the industry and encouraged them to pursue careers in research and advanced engineering.
The interactive discussion that followed enabled students to engage directly with the speaker, raising questions related to career pathways, research opportunities, and the practical challenges involved in developing intelligent robotic systems. The session served as an excellent platform for bridging the gap between academia and industry while inspiring students to explore innovative engineering solutions.
The program was organized by Mr. P. G. T. R. Payagala, Industrial Training Coordinator, Department of Electronics, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, as part of the Department’s Monthly Briefing Day for students undergoing Industrial Training. The initiative aimed to enrich students’ industrial exposure by connecting them with leading professionals from industry and providing firsthand insights into current technological developments and career opportunities.
